Lupus and Your First Rheumatologist Visit

April 27, 2019

Marisa Zeppieri

If you are just in the midst of getting diagnosed with lupus, you will likely be off to see a Rheumatologist for the first time. Rheumatologists are doctors who specialize in connective tissue and rheumatological diseases such as lupus, RA, scleroderma and more.

Visiting for the first time can feel overwhelming. You likely have a lot of questions and, if you aren’t particularly feeling well, just preparing for the visit alone may seem like too much to bear.

But we want to help you get through it. In fact, we even made a video about how to prepare for your first office visit. We will look at:

What to prepare beforehand…

What questions to ask while you are there…

How to prepare for tests and bloodwork and so much more.

Watch the video below to learn everything you need to know about your first lupus related rheumatology visit!

Thank you Thank you Thank you! Don’t know how I happened upon your site or your video but I’m glad I did. I am waiting for a Rheumatologist appointment. You were so helpful. Will email you later. Thanks again!

  2. danielle bass says:

Finally have my Rheumatologist appointment tomorrow after 6 months of waiting. Hopefully i don’t have Lupus but if I did it would explain a lot. I nearly died less than 2 years ago because of ITP (hospitalized for a week, blood transfusion, IgG infusion, a year of prednisolone, and a Rituxan infusion), and then was tested by a dermatologist a year later because of bad hair loss and tested positive for A and A in my blood. This video made me feel a lot better!

  3. Ashli Womack says:

Thank you for this video! I went through 6 years of different diagnoses before the weird rash popped up. Skin/blood confirmed lupus. Have my first rheumatologist appointment tomorrow so this video has truly helped me get ready. Especially considering how awful I feel today
