Adventures in Lupus, Lube and Love Land: Improving Intimacy with SYLK

Image of People in bedToday on LupusChick we are kicking off with the wise words of Salt-N-Pepa who once said, “Let’s talk about sex baby,” and all the good things and bad things that may be.  The good things? Well, human touch for starters. We all crave it and it is proven to help us feel better physically and emotionally. And, as chronic illness patients, who doesn’t want to feel better?

But sex and chronic illness can be a tricky subject.

In the life of an autoimmune or chronic illness patient, there are a lot of hiccups and occasional speed bumps. Our illness often spills over into our work life, social life, and personal life, making certain things more difficult (and less spontaneous). Like sex.

In addition to body pain, autoimmune and chronic illness patients can experience a decrease in lubrication, which can cause even more pain during intercourse or foreplay. Ouch!

Add other conditions such as hormonal changes, stress, medication side effects and chemotherapy to the mix and vaginal dryness levels can be at an all time high. And let’s face it, no one wants that when it comes time for sexy time.

Combat Dryness with a Revolutionary Lubricant

Today we are going to talk about a solution. One I know works, and actually works incredibly well. How do I know? I tried it myself. Well, actually… with my husband.

You see, a combination of medication and symptoms from my chronic illnesses have made dryness a personal issue for me. I’m just desert-like – my skin, eyes, mouth, hair and yep, you know where I am headed next. Over the years, my handsome husband and I tried several lubricants. For some unknown ridiculous reason, many of them would either leave me a raging UTI over and over again, or just be incredible uncomfortable to use – sticky, messy or have a slick feeling that wouldn’t last through intercourse. It was all a hot mess, really. And, it started to get me frustrated in terms of intimacy.

And then I was introduced to SYLK. I was immediately intrigued by this natural lubricant’s main ingredient, the New Zealand Kiwifruit extract. Yes, that super cute green, fuzzy fruit with the incredible taste!

One of the first thing I noticed with SYLK when I applied it to the side of my hand was how clean and delicate the texture was. Have you ever felt a lubricant that feels thick, gummy and chemical-like? Well, I have and the last thing you want to do is then use it in sensitive/personal areas.

Another bonus I found to SYLK’s water based lubricant is that I didn’t notice any burning or stinging during or after sex, and…a biggie for me…no UTI a day later. I average 3-4 UTI’s a year, so this is a huge bonus in my book!

In addition, and this I believe is key for those of us with autoimmune issues, SYLK is not made with parabens, synthetics, chemicals, hormones, or fragrances.

Here are a few more key facts about SYLK Lubricant you may want to know:
  1. It is a trusted product which has been sold for over 30 years internationally.

  2. It is now available in the United States as an FDA cleared product, demonstrating its long standing record of safety and effectiveness.

  3. SYLK is pH balanced to mimic a woman’s natural lubrication.

So, how can you get your free or discounted tube of SYLK in order to try this amazing product for yourself? For starters, visit LupusChick’s FB page on Friday, September 2 when we will be giving away two full-size 3 oz. tubes to two lucky winners!
